Second Time Blaze Breaks Out in Home

They say lightning doesn’t strike in the place twice, but what about fires?

A blaze broke out early Saturday morning in Grover, and Grover Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief Jody Beyer says the fire originated from the same room that caught fire late last year when the building was being used as a business-residence; the difference is the building had been vacant for quite some time, and the utilities were not connected.

Grover, Bethlehem, and Number 3 volunteer fire departments, along with Ladder 25 from Shelby City and other emergency personnel responded to the scene, located at 101 Spruce St., at the corner of Cherry and Spruce streets after receiving the call at 3:49 a.m.

The fire marshal’s office and the S.B.I. are still determining what caused the fire. ABC Printing Co. once operated in the building but the company has since moved.
