Thursday: Turn it Blue Day
Cancer can effect anyone, and in August Carey Heavner's family learned their 10 year old daughter was sick.
Carey was diagnosed with an adult form of colon cancer, but Thursday is a day to celebrate as it will be the young girls last round of chemo treatments, by turning Cleveland County blue.
Several organizations have hosted fundraisers for the Fallston Elementary student including her school, community members and the Gardner Webb University Baseball team.
The ribbon color for colon cancer awareness is blue, so Carey's school decided to design shirts and sell them andin honor of her last treatment they are asking anyone who purchased one to wear it Thurday.
